Marina Lushchenko

I received my MA in French Literature from the University of British Columbia (2006) and my BA (Honours) in French and English from Simon Fraser University (2004). I am currently working on my PhD thesis on the medieval French perceptions of Turkey/Asia Minor and the Turks. My research interests lie predominantly at the intersection of literature, history and travel writing, real and imaginary, in the context of cultural relations between the Latin West and the two Turkish empires (Seljuks and Ottomans) during the Middle Ages and early Renaissance.
